Some of the biggest names in indie games are teaming up to put on a ‘no fluff’ showcase of new game announcements-

French indie studio Evil Empire, which has spent the last five years working on expansions for roguelike sensation Dead Cells, prides itself on being a “triple I” developer: independent, but still big enough to make “world-class” games. Evil Empire likes the label so much, in fact, that it’s spent the past few months organizing a new showcase with some other indie superstars, including the developers of Slay the Spire, Darkest Dungeon, Vampire Survivors, and Terraria. The Triple-I Initiative will be streaming on April 10 and will show off more than 30 games.

“We did collaborations with many indie studios [for Dead Cells]: Slay the Spire, Risk of Rain, Terraria,” Evil Empire’s marketing director Bérenger Dupré told me in an interview at last week’s Game Developers Conference. “It was a cool experience taking those games and putting them into Dead Cells, but we were always wondering if there was a way to collaborate with our indie friends outside of games.”

When Evil Empire started getting ready to announce its next game, the team thought there was an opportunity for a showcase that sat somewhere between the triple-A announcements of The Game Awards and more niche events like, say, the Wholesome Direct. A few months later, they’d managed to bring together enough indie developers to fill a 45 minute event. “Back-to-back trailers, no hosts or sponsorships, no extra fluff,” Dupré said.

“[Evil Empire] were clear that they had a threshold for the type of announcement that they wanted: they wanted to deliver something really punchy and surprising, and we love surprising,” said Chris Bourassa, co-founder of Darkest Dungeon developer Red Hook Studios. Bourassa said that the Red Hook team hustled to get something ready to show for the April 10th event.

Casey Yano, co-founder of Slay the Spire team Mega Crit, said they were trying to decide how to announce their next game when the Triple-I Initiative came up. “We [thought], maybe these guys need our help, and I want to make this event big. Especially after watching The Game Awards—I don’t want to be super inflammatory, but games that aren’t visually impressive don’t really get a lot of clout … I don’t really want to be on there; I feel out of place. I want to really resonate with people who are more into core experience games.”

“It’s been really great working with these guys,” Yano added. “It could’ve been kind of nonchalant, not very interesting, but it’s going to be pretty hype, I think.”

You can see a full list of the studios participating in the showcase below. The Triple-I Initiative will be streaming on YouTube, Twitch and other platforms on April 10 at 10 am Pacific / 5 pm GMT.

Age of Wonders III Review

I once again find myself in the archer’s dilemma. This is my pet name for when I want to move my archers into harm’s way to ensure they deal maximum damage, and hopefully kill their target. Of course, if my archers don’t kill their target, they might be torn asunder on the next turn. I could move my archers back to safety behind my other troops, but then they would incur a hefty firing penalty since something is blocking their line of sight. Do I risk the all-out attack, or play it safe?

The fantastical battlefields of Age of Wonders III are filled with such dilemmas. These tiny dramas spawn naturally from the carefully calculated combination of dozens of different systems all working together Come from malaysia online casino . Fr…

Elden Ring Won Game Of The Year At The Steam Awards, Surprising No One

Valve has announced the results of its 2022 Steam Awards. As expected, Elden Ring took Game of the Year, as well as Best Game You Suck At. Other winners include Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, and Stray.

While the awards largely celebrate the games of 2022, many older games did find their way on the list. Hitman 3 won Best VR Game, because that version of the game release early this year. Cyberpunk 2077 also won Labor of Love, celebrating games that receive updates or continual attention. In the eyes of many Steam users at least, Cyberpunk 2077 has redeemed its rocky launch. Gears Tactics Review

Editor’s note: Below are our impressions of how the Gears Tactics runs on Xbox Series X, also by Gears Tactics reviewer Mike Epstein. You can also read our full Series X review for an in-depth breakdown of the next-gen console. Continue after the break for the original Gears Tactics review.

With the launch of the Xbox Series X and S, Microsoft has released the Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S versions of Gears Tactics. Strategy games like Gears Tactics do not automatically translate well to consoles, where good gamepad controls are a must, but Gears Tactics lands the jump to consoles gracefully. Though using an analog stick to move a cursor will always be slower than using a mouse, the pensive turn-based gameplay does not lose any…

F9's Epic Magnet Plane Stunt Was The Idea Of A 9-Year-Old, Director Confirms

One of the ideas for a particularly extreme Fast 9 stunt came from the director’s young child. Director Justin Lin told Empire that the idea to use magnets in the action film was actually his son Oqwe’s idea, and it’s something he came up with when he was 8 or 9. Before seeing the stunt yourself, make sure to check out GameSpot’s Fast & Furious 9 review. Come from Sports betting site VPbet

Lin recalled that he was in London for a week with his son for meetings for F9. To spend more time with his child, Lin took him to meetings, and this is where the idea spawned. Lin said one of the challenges he was facing at the time was how to film one particular set-piece involving a car flying through the air that needed to land…
